Here is a list of books for and/or about the socially awkward.
1. We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
This mystery novel by American writer Shirley Jackson is an unsettling and haunting read. Although there is not an iota of supernatural in the residence, yet, the masterful writing makes the reader feel as if there is.

2. Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain
"Don't mistake assertiveness and eloquence for good ideas."

3. The Stranger by Albert Camus
On existentialism. Description of an absurd man in an absurd world. Though a quick read, it takes a while to internalize.
4. Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
A classic tale that narrates the personal development of the very human central character, Pip. Overtime, all the unique characters of the novel have seeped into popular culture

5. Matilda by Roald Dahl
Engaging read about absentee parenting of a resourceful little girl, who is too good to be true. It is also a story about learning to live with oneself.
